What does CBT involve? How much does it cost?

Considering taking a CBT course? Stockport School of Motoring offer flexible courses tailored to meet your needs.

We run courses throughout the year at weekends and during the week, we can also arrange evening courses if required.

Costs

CBT on a weekday - £135 CBT on a weekend - £145

These prices are inclusive of bike hire and the use of a helmet and gloves. Waterproofs are also available in the event of bad weather.

We endeavour to complete the CBT course in one day starting at 08:30am with introductions and talks about clothing and protective equipment, before moving onto concentrated practical training in a safe environment. All being well, the day will end with a minimum 2 hour road ride under radio instruction.

Only if the standard throughout the day is satisfactory can a rider's provisional licence be validated immediately with a DL196 certificate. If more time is needed, this can easily be arranged at a small cost. Our experience shows that CBT is usually completed in one day.

High Speed

If you prefer, you can train on your own motorbike - however it is important to ensure the bike is roadworthy and legal. It must be taxed and have a valid MOT with L-plates affixed to the front and rear. Please remember that the bike must be transported to the training centre on the day. To help you relax and enjoy the day - it's important to make sure your bike is mechanically sound.

All riders must have a provisional licence and must bring all parts of the licence on the day of training. We expect the trainee to have a knowledge of the Highway Code prior to the training. We will happily assist with any questions regarding practical riding and road knowledge that may arise throughout the day.

All of our instructors are Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved as well as enthusiastic and experienced local motorcyclists.

You can view the Highway Code online.
