What does the CBT involve? How much does it cost?

We run training courses throughout the summer at weekends and during the week. Evening courses can be arranged. The cost of a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) CBT is £135. The cost of a weekday CBT is £125. These prices are inclusive of bike-hire and use of helmet. Waterproofs are also available for bad weather. You can buy gloves from us on the day or provide them yourself. We endeavour to complete the CBT course in one day starting at 8.30am with introductions and talk about clothing etc then moving onto concentrated practical training in a safe environment and, all being well, ending with a 2 hour road-ride with radio instruction. Only if the standard throughout the day is satisfactory can a DL196 certificate be immediately issued that will validate the riders provisional licence. If more time is required then that can be easily arranged at small cost. Our experience shows that a CBT is normally completed in one day.

If you want to train on your own motorbike you can discount £20 of the CBT cost but it is important that the bike is roadworthy and legal, for example it must be taxed and MOT'd. A set of L-plates must be affixed front and rear. Bear in mind the bike must be transported to the training centre on the day! Please ensure the bike is mechanically sound so you can relax and enjoy the day.

The rider must have a provisional licence and must bring all parts of the licence on the day of training. We expect the trainee to have a knowledge of the Highway Code prior to the training. We will happily assist with any questions arising during the day for both practical riding and road knowledge.

Our instructors are Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved as well as enthusiastic and experienced local motorcyclists.
